The TRC was established in 1996 to develop greater linkages between industry and education. The Centre builds upon the five decades of tourism expertise available at DIT and works extensively with the tourism industry. The Tourism Research Centre's mission statement is to provide applied research and development expertise for the tourism industry in Ireland . It aim's to

  • assist the tourism industry to develop new and improved products and services
  • conduct objective independent research
  • monitor developments within the industry
  • disseminate relevant information

The Tourism Research Centre combines experience and innovation, through the utilisation of the DIT staff and the international network of expertise that has been developed by the Centre. The TRC's expert team consists of 3 permanent researchers and the Centre Manager. All are committed to delivering excellence and are passionate about tourism.
