Kieran Corcoran

Kieran Corcoran is Acting Head of Department of Design, School of Art , Design and Printing and was formerly Research Coordinator for the school with responsibility for promoting postgraduate research in Fine Art and Design. Research interests include Post 1960 Irish Art, Design Pedagogy, Contemporary Graphic Design and the development of the cultural sector in Ireland post 1970. Kieran is currently acting as Irish coordinator of Re:search, Re:searche, a Socrates funded programme led by the European League of the Institutes of the Arts (ELIA) and 10 partner institutions across the EU, which is aiming to achieve a better understanding of cultural differences in research in higher arts education through a comparative analysis of how research traditions, structures and approaches to research practice and supervision are integrated throughout Europe. He is Chairman of the Galway Arts Festival, board member of the European League of the Institutes of the Arts and formerly a member of the board of directors of the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA).
