Jane Stacey

Research Assistant
Tourism Research

Jane has substantial experience in the travel and tourism industry, both in Ireland and abroad. In 2004, Jane returned to full time education and graduated with a first class M.Sc. in Tourism Management from Dublin Institute of Technology. In partial fulfillment of the Masters, she undertook a thesis on the emergence of Volunteer Tourism as a form of socially responsible tourism, adopting a qualitative research approach. Jane also holds a B.A. (Hons) Economics and Political Science from Trinity College Dublin and a Higher Diploma in Education from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

Since joining the Tourism Research Centre, Jane has been involved in projects entailing both quantitative and qualitative research approaches for clients as diverse as Fáilte Ireland, Waterford County Council, Old Jameson Distillery and ITAA, along with a research project funded by Combat Poverty Agency seeking to develop social tourism policy and practice in Ireland. Jane’s current focus is on reviewing sustainability issues in tourism education and training in Ireland on behalf of Fáilte Ireland. She was also instrumental in organising the recent RICH seminar ‘Building Best Practice through Partnership: Developing Arts Tourism in Ireland’.
