John Carty

Research Assistant
Tourism Research


John's main roles as a Research Assistant at the Tourism Research Centre
include proposal development, qualitative and quantitative research,
data analysis, report writing and project management/co-ordination.

A native of Co. Roscommon and resident of Castleknock, John has a
background in the hospitality and hotel industry. John graduated from
the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology with a BA (Hons.) in Hotel and
Catering Management and has worked in the hotel industry abroad and in
Ireland for a number of years, during which time he gained an
understanding of the hospitality industry.

He completed a MSc in Tourism Management at the Dublin Institute of Technology, during which he undertook a thesis entitled "Examining the Implementation ofSustainable Rural Tourism: An Irish Case Study". Before being appointed to his current post John worked with Dublin Tourism, which has given him practical experience of the tourism industry.
John is also a certified PRINCE2 Practitioner.
