Catherine Flanagan
Post-graduate Researcher
School of Hospitality Management and Tourism
Faculty of Tourism and Food

Following an extensive career working in the hotel industry, Catherine Flanagan returned to full-time study in 2004, and took a first class Masters degree in Hospitality Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology, completing a dissertation on performance measurement practices in Irish hotel groups. Her current research interests revolve around entrepreneurship in the cultural tourism sector. This includes the expanding boundaries of what we understand 'culture' to mean and how such change impacts upon our notion of 'cultural tourism'. Catherine is also interested in investigating the opportunities that exist for product and market development in the cultural tourism area and in exploring evidence of partnerships in the arts, tourism and cultural tourism, particularly those driven by lifestyle motivations.
