Dr. Bernadette Quinn
Lecturer and Researcher
School of Hospitality Management and Tourism


Bernadette Quinn is a geographer who works as a lecturer and researcher in the Faculty of Tourism and Food. Her teaching and research interests include cultural policy, culture-led urban generation, festivals and cultural events. She has published in a number of international peer reviewed journals including Urban Studies, Social and Cultural Geography and the International Journal of Cultural Policy.

Before moving to the DIT, Bernadette had worked as a lecturer in the Department of Geography in NUI, Maynooth, and had held the IMRO Newman Research Fellowship at University College Dublin. It was during her tenure as a Newman Fellow that she completed her PhD research on globalization processes in arts festival places.

During 2001- 2002 Bernadette was a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Venice , International Centre of Studies on the Tourism Economy (CISET). She is a member of the GSI, the European Festivals Researchers Network, the ATLAS Festivals and Events Special Interest group and is the Irish representative, International Geographical Union - Tourism, Leisure and Global Change Study Group.
